Custom Web Maps with Mapbox
Learn to create custom web maps for free with Mapbox. No experience is necessary to create beautiful, custom web maps.
This course will demonstrate how to use the Mapbox API to create web maps using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. No prior knowledge of computer programming is necessary. The instructor demonstrates how to write all the necessary code so that even beginners can get started with web map development.
It can be difficult to know how to get started with web mapping. This course is designed to teach you the basics of creating web maps with Mapbox and get you on your way to creating your own custom map solutions.
Prerequisites
No prerequisites are required for this course. Students will benefit from a basic understanding of GIS principles. QGIS for Beginners is a good course to gain basic GIS knowledge.
Software and Materials
- Visual Studio Code: free integrated development environment with syntax highlighting to make writing code simple. You also can use another IDE or text editor.
- Mapbox account: sign up for free. A Mapbox account is required to complete course tasks.
- QGIS: free, open-source GIS software that will be used minimally for file format conversions. The formatted files will be provided to course students so it is not required to install QGIS.
